QUICK RECIPE OVERVIEW

Why you’ll love it

  • This no-cook breakfast takes just minutes to prepare and makes busy mornings easier. With a satisfying combination of fiber, healthy fats, and protein, overnight oats are a delicious way to start your day and can be customized with your favorite fruits, nuts, and flavors.

What Makes It So Flavorful?

Cinnamon and vanilla add warmth and natural sweetness, while creamy nut butter, fresh fruit, and a drizzle of honey or maple syrup make every bite delicious.

Helpful Tips

  • Make it extra creamy: Use your favorite milk or stir in a spoonful of Greek yogurt for added creaminess and protein.

  • Adjust the consistency: Start with ¾ cup milk for thicker oats or use the full cup for a softer, creamier texture.

  • Boost the protein: Choose a protein-rich milk or add your favorite protein powder. Collagen can add protein but isn't a complete protein source.

  • Change up the flavors: Try blueberries and almond butter, banana and cinnamon, or diced apples with pecans.

Creamy Overnight Oats

MAKES

1 SERVING

Ingredients:

For the Overnight Oats

  • ½ cup old-fashioned rolled oats

  • ¾–1 cup milk of choice

  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds, hemp seeds, or ground flaxseed

  • 1 tablespoon protein powder or collagen peptides

  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Optional Mix-Ins — Choose Your Favorites

  • 1 tablespoon nut or seed butter (almond, peanut, cashew, or sunflower)

  • ½ cup fresh fruit (berries, banana, chopped apple, peaches, or mango)

  • 1 teaspoon honey or pure maple syrup, optional

Instructions:

  1. Combine: Add oats, milk, seeds, protein powder or collagen, cinnamon, and vanilla to a glass jar or container.

  2. Mix: Stir well until everything is combined. Let sit for 5 minutes, then stir again to prevent clumping.

  3. Refrigerate: Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight, allowing the oats to soften and thicken.

  4. Add toppings: In the morning, stir the oats and add your favorite fruit, nut butter, or a drizzle of honey or maple syrup.

  5. Enjoy: Serve chilled, or warm gently if preferred.

Recipe Notes

  • Best Oats: Old-fashioned rolled oats work best for a creamy texture. Quick oats become softer, while steel-cut oats require a different liquid ratio and longer soaking.

  • Consistency: Oats and chia seeds absorb liquid as they sit. Add a splash of milk before serving if the mixture is too thick.

  • Storage: Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days. Add fresh fruit and crunchy toppings just before serving.

  • Make Ahead: Prepare several individual jars at once for convenient breakfasts throughout the week.

Nourish & Rooted Tip: I love keeping overnight oats simple and changing up the toppings throughout the week. A combination of fresh berries, almond butter, and chia seeds makes a delicious breakfast that brings together fiber, protein, and healthy fats to help keep you satisfied all morning.
