QUICK RECIPE OVERVIEW
Why you’ll love it
A fresh, homemade guacamole that lets the natural flavor of ripe avocados shine. With heart-healthy fats, fiber, and colorful vegetables, it's a nourishing addition to tacos, bowls, or a platter of fresh vegetables.
What Makes It So Flavorful?
Fresh lime brightens the rich avocado, while red onion, garlic, cilantro, and jalapeño add layers of flavor. Diced Roma tomatoes bring a juicy, refreshing contrast.
Helpful Tips
Mash the avocados gently with a fork, leaving plenty of small chunks for texture. Add the lime juice right away to brighten the flavor and help slow browning.
Fresh Tomato Salsa
CHUNKY · CREAMY · ZESTYABOUT 6 SERVINGS | PREP 15 MINUTES | COOK NONE
Ingredients:
3 ripe avocados, peeled and pitted
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice (about 1 lime)
¼ cup finely diced red onion
¼ cup diced Roma tomatoes, seeds removed
3 tablespoons finely chopped fresh cilantro
1 garlic clove, minced
½ jalapeño, seeded and finely diced
¼ teaspoon sea salt, or to taste
⅛ teaspoon ground cumin (optional)
Method:
Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
Add the lime juice and gently mash with a fork, leaving some chunks for texture.
Fold in the red onion, tomatoes, cilantro, garlic, jalapeño, salt, and cumin, if using.
Gently mix until combined. Adjust the lime juice or salt to taste and serve fresh.
Recipe Notes
Choosing Avocados: Look for avocados that yield slightly to gentle pressure without feeling mushy. Underripe avocados will be difficult to mash and lack that rich, buttery texture.
Extra Chunky: Mash two avocados and dice the third, folding it in at the end for bigger, creamier bites.
Tomato Tip: Use firm Roma tomatoes and remove the watery seeds before dicing to keep the guacamole thick rather than runny.
Serving Ideas: Delicious with gluten-free tortilla chips, chicken fajitas, tacos, or Black Bean Burgers (see recipe ↗).
Meal Prep: Chop the onion, jalapeño, and cilantro ahead of time. For the freshest color and texture, mash the avocados and combine everything shortly before serving.
Storage: Guacamole is best enjoyed fresh. For leftovers, press plastic wrap directly against the surface, cover tightly, and refrigerate for up to 1–2 days. Remove any browned surface before serving if desired.
