QUICK RECIPE OVERVIEW

Why you’ll love it

  • This is a versatile sauce to keep on hand when a meal needs a little something extra. It takes just minutes to make and adds a fresh, creamy finish without overpowering the other flavors on your plate.

What Makes It So Flavorful?

Fresh lemon juice and zest bring a bright citrus flavor, while parsley and chives add a delicate, garden-fresh taste. Greek yogurt creates a tangy base, and olive oil gives the sauce its silky texture.

Helpful Tips

  • Finely chop the herbs so they blend evenly into the sauce. For a thinner, more pourable consistency, whisk in a teaspoon or two of cold water until it's just right.

Creamy Lemon Herb Sauce

BRIGHT · SILKY · HERBY

ABOUT 8 SERVINGS | PREP 10 MINUTES | COOK NONE

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt

  • ¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil

  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

  • 1 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest

  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

  • 2 tablespoons thinly sliced chives

  • 1 garlic clove, finely minced

  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt

  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Method:

  1. Prepare the herbs. Finely chop the parsley, thinly slice the chives, and mince the garlic. Zest the lemon before squeezing out the juice.

  2. Make the creamy base. In a medium bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, and lemon zest until smooth.

  3. Add the herbs and seasonings. Stir in the parsley, chives, minced garlic, sea salt, and freshly ground black pepper.

  4. Adjust and serve. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed. For a thinner sauce, whisk in a little cold water, 1 teaspoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.

Recipe Notes

  • Storage: Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 3–4 days. Stir well before serving.

  • Make Ahead: Prepare the sauce a few hours before serving to allow the garlic, lemon, and herbs to mingle. The flavor becomes a little more pronounced as it rests.

  • Serving Ideas: Drizzle over grilled salmon, roasted potatoes, chicken, quinoa bowls, or steamed asparagus. It's also delicious as a dip for fresh vegetables.

  • Herb Variations: Try fresh dill in place of the chives for a slightly different flavor, especially when serving with fish.

  • Extra Lemon Flavor: Add another pinch of lemon zest for a brighter citrus finish without making the sauce too tart.

  • Texture Tip: For a thicker, spoonable sauce, use full-fat Greek yogurt. For a smooth salad dressing, thin with a little cold water until easily pourable.
